Currently for Minecraft 1.8.0

Video Tutorial and Review by the lovely AntVenom (We worked on the mod together)!
I’d recommend checking this out to find out how the mod works.

 

  • In-game Mocap recorder with a GUI and a twist. Record yourself doing stuff, go back in the timeline and record an entirely new action! Keep doing this and have an entire scene, all acted out yourself, without the need of others’ help.
  • Toggle the Scene Editor UI with the F12 key when ingame. Start and Stop a new action (you have to make one first) with F10, replay the entire scene using F9. (All keybinds configurable, preferably you should watch the video on how to use the mod)
  • Saving the project will also export all the actions to be reimported into the same scene. Offset this and you can have an entire group “dancing” in sync!
  • Keygrip uses a workspace in the /mods/ folder, if you need any files Keygrip creates, it’ll be there.
  • Also wanna add a note: Holding shift when you hit OK on an import action window will not set the offset to the player position.
  • Requires Java 7 and later.

Disclaimer: The 4.0.0 build is the 5.0.0 version, including a stripped down iChunUtil 5.3.0-beta, backported to Minecraft 1.7.10 in a single package. Therefore, it is a standalone version of the mod that is not compatible with iChunUtil for 1.7.10 and effectively, every other mod that depends on it, which means all of my mods. Also doesn’t require Java 7.

    Looks great. But it’s not working for me. Every time I press edit scene or edit action, the game crashes. I’m using minecraft 1.8 with minecraft forge for 1.8, and i’m not using any other mods other than ichun util 5.0.0 and keygrip 5.0.0. Anyone know why?

      I’m having this issue as well. I haven’t found a solution yet, but if I do, I shall let you know. If you find out how to fix it, please let me know!

      This was a mistake on my part when compiling the mod. A quick redownload and reinstall would fix this.

    Do you know if we are able to use individual skins instead of usernames? I think that might be a bit innovating for the Minecraft Machinima community.

    Do you think it would be possible for this mod to also be available for Minecraft 1.7.10 in the near future? People like me might want to use this mod along with other mods, and not a lot of mods have been updated to 1.8 yet. I understand if it happens to be too difficult. 🙂

          also, version 4.0.0 is for 1.7.10, and you dont need ichunutil for that version, though it is in beta

    I think you should add a command to start playing the scene, this would be great for map makers! other than that wish, its great and you can do a lot of things with it, execute works on the entity’s playing!

      This mod was made for singleplayer machinema the sences would not be on the map if other people use it you better use armour stands for such

      I agree! This would be very useful for adding timed commands and such that go along with the scene, rather than having to start them yourself every time you play the scene, with most of them being improperly timed.

          I still prefer the original Mocap. It allows you to rename the player as well as use any player’s skin.

    Hey Ichun!

    I don’t know if this is already in plan but right click and left click should be logged so the entity captured(most likely player) can press buttons, pull levers, open doors, etc…
    Also, block breaking and placing would be a nice addition.

    Can you add to the mod the ability to add your own (custom) skins? It would be much more useful then only being able to type in a username to make a skin instead of having to create other accounts

    I think a cool idea would be that you could access a folder in your files to use for skins, whenever you type a player name it only works the first playback, then goes back to steve. (Using 1.7.10 version, please fix, all my other machinima mods are on this version c: Thanks)

    Hey Ichun.
    I don’t know where to actually report bugs so I’ll do it here.
    I found 2 bugs, 1 that is bad and the other one which isn’t as bad.
    The first bug that is bad: If you put nothing or less than 0 in the Action Timer Position thing it will crash your game.
    And the other one is that if you host a LAN server and use other players names as characters in your movie they show up on the list of players.

    I’d like to know if there is any way possible to choose which villager can I see on the broadcast.
    For exemple, the regular Villager is code 0 (Farmer) but how can I choose an another one loke Librerian or smith ?
    And BTW, thanks a lot for you great mod, I wrote the French article about Tabula and shot the only French video Tuto for the same mod. Take care ^^

    hey ichun, i have an idea, could you update the mod with capability of editing and recording specific segments, that and allow the enable or disable of jackets, hats, ect that would really help me alot. also the enderdragon entity flies backwards from the way we move

    These thing would be very useful if they were added:

    ►İmporting your custom skin or using it from Skindex
    ►Block breaking / placing, pressing buttons/ pressure plates, opening doors etc.
    ►Riding a horse or something
    ►Multiplayer support (For playing with friends)

    Oh and there is a bug that, if you sit on a chair, a minecraft or something, it doesn’t show the sitting animation., the player looks like walking…

    That’s weird, I’m having a white screen too! But I have IchunUtil and it worked fine before, and I did not get any more mods than I already had, and I did not update any of the mods, but now I go back to trying to use the mods and it goes white!!

    This may be a bit much to ask but could you add Redstone compatibility to the mod so you like step on a pressure plate then the scene starts. By the way my email is an Alias email I do not check very often

    It’s a great mod, BUT it doesn’t work with boats and it would be nice to be able to export the motion to Blender or C4D. (not the body animation, in my case just the head would do)

    Can this mod play actions using Command Blocks? I could see this working extremely well for scripted Adventure maps. Also is it possible to change the skin of the player model? If not I highly suggest adding these features if possible.

    This mod is great, and very useful! I would love to see updates! I have some suggestions, currently snowballs don’t work, and drinking/throwing potions doesn’t work either. Enderdragons fly backwards, and the clone can’t do things like till ground or plant seeds or use bonemeal. These are all things I would like to see work.

    I’m sorry, but this mod NEEDS custom skin selection. I’ve done everything to be able to work aground missing feats of this mod such as opening doors, placing block, EVEN RIDING A HORSE. This mod is just great, truly amazing. But it NEEDS CUSTOM SKINS. I feel bad having to keep asking my friend to change his skin to a male in pink underwear xD

    Hello! I have a cool tip for you all! If you combine this mod with ReplayMod, you can make a cinematic with anybody you want in it! Just go into a world, set up the things you want to happen in the cinematic, then make them happen! Then just use ReplayMod to make a cinematic out of it! I’m gonna make one today!

    I don’t know it it’s just my laptop, bu this problem has been happening for quite a while now, and makes it nearly impossible to make machinimas. Nearly every time I go to play a scene, the whole screen freezes, goes white, and then minecraft crashes. Please help!! I haven’t been able to make any machinimas for the past 2 months because of this 🙁
