Currently for Minecraft 1.7.10
Winner (Individual) of the second 96 hour modding marathon hosted by Searge of MCP, known as ModJam.
This mod is still in Beta and is unfinished! Updates will come in the future to the remaining missing content.
- “Acquire” most living mobs by killing them (a morph). This includes other players, silverfish, mobs from Twilight Forest, Mo’ Creatures, Ore Spawn, and more!
- Use abilities that accompany morphs you acquire! More info in the next tab.
Usage
- Browse previously acquired morphs with the (defaults) [ / ] keys (Square brackets, normally next to the Enter/Return key). Hit them to open the Gui and scroll up and down, hold shift to scroll left and right. (Works with the mouse as well, once the selector is open!). The mod will try it’s best to prevent duplicate morphs, however it cannot guarantee that.
- Select a morph with the Enter/Return/LMB. It takes ~4 seconds to transition between morphs, and you cannot acquire new morphs while morphing.
- Remove a morph with the Delete/Backspace button. You however, cannot remove your original state, or the morph you are currently using.
- Close the morph selector with the Escape/RMB. It will auto close if there is another Gui open.
- Add a mod to favourites with the ~ key, when in the Morph Gui. You can also hold the ~ key to open a radial menu to morph into your favourites!

Known Issues (and status)
- (BUG) Morphs with tiny hitboxes cannot swim up pools deeper than 1 block.
- (BUG) Horse morphs in grazing mode infinitely graze.
- (BUG) Occasionally morphs can duplicate. This is entirely due to the entity NBT data being slightly different, causing the mod to think the morph as a new morph. If you are being overrun with morphs, delete some.
- (WONTFIX) Morphing into child morphs will show the morph transition into an adult morph. Child models are changed directly in the model class, so I’d rather not go to hassle of handling each individual case to correctly show the transition, especially since there are no hooks by MCForge in that category.
- (WONTFIX) Very large morphs have difficulty breaking blocks, especially those with a very different eye height from the player. The server classes these seperately and might reject the block breaking. Won’t fix, not a big issue.
- (WONTFIX) Morphs with short “arms” float in first person. Won’t fix because the mod is using a generic way to get “arms” of mobs, and attempting to render them in the same viewpoint/position first person as normal player arms.
- (UNDECIDED) Holding items as morphs which cannot hold items, will not show the item.

Abilities
Abilities are basically “characteristics and skills”, but for simplicity’s sake, they’re called abilities. Packaged with the mod right now there are 11 abilities, some good, some bad. They are as follows:
- Climb
- Fall Negate
- Fly
- Float
- Fire Immunity
- Hostile
- Swim
- Sunburn
- Water Allergy
- Step
- Poison Resistance
- Wither Resistance
- Sink
- Fear
- Potion Effect
Explanation:
Climb: Mimics spider climbing up walls etc, you have to push yourself against a wall and you’ll climb up it. You need to remain pushed against the wall to climb up it, of course, and you fall if you let go.
Fall Negate: Prevents fall damage!
Fly: Mimics creative flying, available for vanilla mobs that fly.
Float: Only one mob in vanilla supports this, and that’s the chicken. Instead of falling to your doom, you slowly float downwards like chickens do.
Fire Immunity: A variety of mobs have this, especially all the nether mobs. This will make you fire resistant and let you swim around in lava if you want to.
Hostile: Certain mobs are labelled hostile specifically because they try to target players. There is no use of this ability unless you enable Hostile Mode in the config (explained later).
Swim: This ability allows mobs to breathe underwater, and optionally, make them drown when out of water.
Sunburn: Think Zombies and Skeletons burning in sunlight. Yeah.
Water allergy: You take damage when wet. Like endermen and blazes.
Step: You get a change in step height, this normally will allow you to walk up 1 block high areas.
To identify abilities, look in the Morph gui next to the morph, listed there are abilities that may be available to the mob.
Hostile Mode
This is a config option that affects the “Hostile” Ability. By default it is turned off. This modes allow you to walk amongst (some, not all [Spiders and Slimes will not ignore you]) the hostile mobs in the game, if you are morphed as a hostile mob.
EG: You’re a skeleton and you walk up to a zombie, which completely ignores you unless attacked.
Once again, as stated, Spiders and Slimes will not ignore you if this is on. This is because they use the old AI system still.
Mod support
Alright… Here’s the interesting bit. In terms of mod support, there’s two ways you can go.
1. Bug the Mod author to support the mod by using the API found here.
2. Contribute to a Mod Mobs Mapping that you can find here.
Usable abilities
Right now, usable abilities are planned. What are usable abilities? Stuff you can trigger on command, like teleportation, exploding, shooting projectiles, etc. HOWEVER, these are not included in Morph just yet, and will most likely come in the later update.

Hey, great job on the mod! I just wanted to post that you should add a mountable trait. So if your a mob which can be mounted, other players can ride you. And, maybe a config option to get a mob’s attributes?
Also, maybe a trait so like if your a wolf, if you get attacked, the other wolves will go hostile on whatever hit you.

Really, if you’re using this mod to disguise yourself, then allowing players to ride you is a decent idea. A good way to make that work would be to show which way the player is trying to steer you. That way, you could make him think he is controlling you even if he isn’t.
this would be very hard – depending on how the mod is coded, players can mount entities and with a bit of coding blocks, but not other players, would be cool though
OOO!, I know, wouldn’t it be good if instead of showing you where they want you to go… IT FORCED YOU TO GO THAT WAY!. Oh, that would be great.
I think that they should have control over you, but if you try to move, it overrides them. there could also be a button to disable their control of you. This way, you could, for example, kill their named pet horse D: then morph into it, and when they ride you you could become a “stubborn horse” or they could be riding you near a ravine and suddenly you change course towards it. When you got to the edge, you would jump to the middle and swap to a bat or other flying mob, causing them to plummet to their dooms. Or you could just start “being scared” of mobs, like horses often do in ghost stories. You might even just change course to freak them out.

To change if enemies detect you, go to the configs folder in .minecraft. Go to the morph config and “open with” notepad or whatever your text reader is. Go down until you find the “hostile mobs can detect you when morph” (or something similar,) and enter the config number of what you want them to see. [note: certain enemies will still attack you even if you config them not to. EX: spiders, witches, (and slimes I think). have fun!]
i went in to it and all like you said but then every time i tried to change it to 5 which makes it so they don’t attack you unless you attack them, and i launched mine craft it made it auto change to 4, it also auto changed the max to 4 witch i set at 5
greg it might be because the setting is a 0 to 4 which ingame its actually 1 to 5 because if you go to mods then click morph mod then config it should allow you to change it then if it makes you click something saying i understand then click it go to the main menu and restart minecraft then pew it works i think
You should totally be able to explode when your a creeper, but I don’t get why they dont add that. I mean, you go off to kill a creeper, morph into it, and then go off to your friend’s house and blow up!

That would be a pretty nice feature. However it has balance issues, you could infinitely blow up something for easy getting without needing a pickaxe. The only way I see to balance this would be that you lose the Creeper morph when you die (in the config) but I for one don’t use that because what if I lose something I really like or it is actually a boss from another mod?

It isn’t SMP compatible for 1.6.4 – or rather it is bugged to hell when in SMP. Works fine in SSP, but in SMP you get stuck in the first morph you get and also cannot add new ones 🙁
I have no problem with Morph in MP beside that it doesn’t let you return to yourself. But morphing between different mobs never fail.
You have to type /morph demorph to fix it 😀

If you already downloaded the mod (in the download tab) open your minecraft data folder (Like this: Windows: %appdata%/Roaming/.minecraft Mac: User,Library,Application Support/Minecraft Linux: I don’t own a linux so look up .minecraft in the minecraft wiki). Then, you go to your mods folder (make sure you have forge 1.6.4 installed). Finally, drag the mod into the folder and start minecraft with the profile called “Forge” and enjoy!

How in the giant flying fuck is a great job when it is literally impossible to down load the mod? I’ve been here two full hours trying to download it in as many ways possible.
DON’T EVEN TRY. IF HE CAN’T MAKE THE MOD USABLE, THEY ARE WORTHLESS.
I found another bug: if you trample a crop while morphed into a mob, the farmland block will turn back into a dirt block, but the crops planted on top of it will still remain there.

Yes they are, they just use sounds to find where they are going, this is called, Echolocation.
bats aren’t blind but they do have bad eyesight that’s why they use echolocation not because they are totally blind.
True, but in Minecraft blindness ALSO makes you ALMOST blind, so it coincidently works out.
Bats have normal eyesight. It is just hard for them to see because they are nocturnal (meaning they sleep during the day and wake up at night) and it is dark during the night.
Bats don’t have bad eyesight, silly. They have have similar eyesight to us! Why do you think they need echolocation to see at night?

First, find someone with an IQ higher than their age. Second, ask them to fix it.
well, you see that it says bossMorphs=0, and that 0 = no. that means change 0 to 1
Yes you can. You can morph into boss mobs:
1. Go to your Technic installation folder
2. Go to the modpacks folder
3. Go to configs
4. Find the morph config and open with a text editor
5. Just scroll down until you see the boss morph and enable it (1)
6. Try it out on a hidra or naga 😉

How do you open the config to turn on the hostile trait/ability?
don’t know if anyone else wants this but maybe you could add a time limit option on morphs. maybe 5-7 minutes and then you revert to default form d wait 2-3 minutes before you can morph again. and maybe 1 out of 10 times you will get a morph that is not the one you selected. gives sort of a ben 10 feel

How about a command to give a morph to a player? While there’s currently one to give a player the morph of the creature that they’re looking at, I have been having trouble getting it to recognize what I am looking at. I would also like for this command to either ignore what is disabled in the config file, or have it’s own options in the config file.

I for the life of me cant get the GUI to pop up anymore, i was using 1.6.4 it was working fine, i went to 1.6.2 so i can play with other mods and the “[/]” keys aren’t popping up the screen to select my morph, but the morph is still working i morph into anything i kill.. any suggestions?

Is there a way to reorder your morphs?
Yes, but it’s not really practical or easy. It requires manually editing the .dat files with NBTEdit.
i like the mod its realy awsome but i have found some balance issues witch i think is possible to fix.
1: when you have abilities on and are a bat or another flying creature you can fly free and its early game. most mods dont give you this before late game. way to fix: maby make a config that will make it impossible to use any armour when you morph into a creature or make it impossible to use items when you are morphed. ofcorse the config would not have any effect if you morphed to a mob that can wear armour like a skeleton or a zombie.
2: when you have killed a blaze and you are in the nether you are pretty much unkillable, fire proof and can fly. i think you can fix this the same way as in 1: make it impossible to wear armour when you are a blaze.
Good idea! Keep in mind, this is still beta, and you will use a ritual or something in full to get a morph (but I hope there is a config option for this way), but I like this! 🙂
Yeah, I would like to see a few more traits added to the morphs. For example the inability to use items in your action bar. I enjoy the bat and being able to fly and explore in the early game. But I don’t think the bat should be able to mine, eat and use items. I think you should maybe replace the action bar with specific skills that could be used in place of items.
So for example the blaze would have the fireball in slot one and nothing else. You click it and shoot three fireballs like blaze. Basically with no hands, you get no items, with special abilities you inherit them as well.

If your talking about spiders, they are coded different to normal hostile mobs. So the only way for ichun to fix this would be to make this a .jar mod, but that would make it very incompatible.

This mod could be used for a sort of minigame…Changeling. One player is the changeling, who can(this mod comes into play) transform into whoever and whatever they kill. The rest of the players(who will, on an honor system, never use the morphs) are the humans that try to kill the changeling. When the changeling is killed, then they will announce that they have died, and the round restarts.

Hi great mod i have a bug, i cant morph into myself again
YEs. Same problem here. Me and a friend ran around as each others because we couldn’t morph back to och original selfs.
Sometimes it works again after a logout/login, sometimes it didn’t. Sometimes we couldn’t morph into each others chars either so we where stuck as animals/monsters (always able to morph between them) but couldn’t turn back to being humans.
Yeah I’m having the same issue! Although I did turn back to myself randomly at one point, I turned into a critter again and I’m stuck again. I dunno if it has anything to do with it, but we’re running Mo’ Creatures and we’re on an MCPC+ server.
I’m loving the mod otherwise, such a great idea and very well implemented already 🙂 Looking very forward to the whole skill aquisition mechanic!
Well. Also running mcpc server. Latest version of mcpc does fix the prob with suffocating when ur one block high and have a block above you. 🙂

dude i just love your mod ^^, it would be great though if you made the new “abilities” compatible with mo creature (would be awesome to fly as a dragon) and maybe for certain creatures on which you can saddle, for instance if you kill your horse and he has a saddle on him, you can change into a saddled version of it, which would allow friends to ride on your back until they decide to go down or you morph back. maybe also add abilities which are unique to certain mod’s mobs (ex; werewolves in MoC lope on all fours at a certain speed, maybe you go faster morphed in a werewolf and lope, but you cannot morph into a werewolf during the day, otherwise you immediately go back to human)
It has a method for testing which mobs have what abilities. It’s not the best method, and tends to have trouble with mob flight, but other than that it’s pretty good.

1.6.X the X means any, so it’s 1.6.2 and 1.6.4, also 1.6 itself doesn’t exist (excluding the pre-release)

Hey! for some mobs you should add more attributes, ovb. enderman teleporting w/ no damage, ocelot wolf and horse have varying degress of speed, horse has higher jump, havent killed wither but if not shoot heads with like r of something. the ovbious stuff to make it more fun. right now too little of the mobs do too little so its just to have more fun. I think its a good idea to make a cofigtab ingame so we can change the controls. On my norwegian keyboard we have 1 key that we can press that is going to work like the ] key we need to press. But we don’t have a button that counts as [ .

Would you be willing to add in a limiting mechanic if it wasn’t the final version? I’m talking about something you have to do before unlocking the ability to morph, even if it’s not what’s going to be in the finished version. I’d say it should involve a Nether Star or something equally late game as it should not be something you have access to early.
What you should add is make it where you instead of having to kill a really hard mob or rare mob in dungeon chests there can be these transformation scrolls so you dont have to kill the mob.

spotted a bug. when you are a spider and have other mobs set to not be able to see you they still can (maybe something to do with a spider being neutral and not actually fully hostile) and spiders can still see you when you are any other mob. however spiders will not attack you when you are a spider. and also a tiny tidbit. if you change into a wide mob (ex a spider) next to a wall you will start to suffocate. a solution would to be have the player pushed out of walls or something. anyway great mod! i really had a laugh when i became a portal turret!
That’s supposed to be intentional. Other mobs also attack you while you’re an Enderman.
Cool idea: try to make it so that if you are a wither, have a bow, and have wither skeleton skulls in your inventory (but not arrows), you shoot the skull blast instead of arrows.

Me and my sister are trying to play together with this mod using lan, but the lan world doesn’t even show up on our multiplayer.
That is a problem with your WiFi/lan
The problem might be that you two have same IP adresses if you have connected to same WiFi.
Sadly, It doesnt seem to work with “Mine and Blade Battlgear 2”
So i added the mod to my server, and every time i kill something i dont get the morph, and when i open the gui, the box for the entity pops up but doesn’t show anything. It doesn’t even show my character. Any one happen upon the same problem? if so is there a fix?

Protip: If you change the name of the mob and kill it, then in the morph selection screen, it will have that name, and the name will show up above your head if you morph into it.
how the h*ll do you download and install the mod I know how to get on the page that says download but once I click on it It brings me to A file then I don’t know what to do from there! And I have no idea what to click on to install and play it
Install Forge and this mod. Rightclick the forge jar file and click “open with…” and chose java. Then it should take you to the installer, and just press install. Then open minecraft lancher, create new profile and chose the Forge profile to play with. Just load it and then exit.
After that, you go to your windows start menu, and search “run”. In run you enter %appdata%
Go to .minecraft, create a new folder, and drag the mod zip/jar file into the folder. Then you re-open the launcher and the mod should be installed.
I like to play where you can’t open the GUI, makes it more balanced.

Just a note: you failed to mention it in the abilities lies, but if you morph into a Squid, you can breath underwater and not out of water – you start “drowning” after a few moments of being out of the water as a squid.
Personally, I think the zombie and skeleton morphs should give nightvision or something since they always seem to be able to zero in on me even in complete darkness…. 😛

Just a quick question about the Ability Tracker. It’s supposed to save to your config folder whenever it gives a new mob an ability. Is it possible to manually do this yourself? So for instance could I make a config file that would give whisps from thaumcraft the ability to fly? (also I have yet to have the ability tracker produce any kind of config file even after using this mod for about a week now.)

I would find it appropriate for, say, bats and endermen to have always-on night vision, due to echolocation for the former and magical-glowy eyes for the latter. Changing the field of view for mobs with wide-apart eyes could also be neat.

This mod is quite awesome to mess around with. I thought the morphs would be cool for a while and then get boring but they still look great even after seeing them so many times. I do, however, feel that, with the abilities active, it can be OP early on. I’m not sure if it is possible but it would be cool if while you were morphed you experience drained and when you ran out the morph reverted. This would obviously be a configurable option as some people don’t mind it but I think it would add a little challenge that some, including myself, would appreciate.

I found a shape shifer mod that is even better. (Not judging.) It has the shift bone, ability bone, and some kind of other bone.
I forgot! You need to craft the special shifter bones. (Includes the ability bone,shifter bone, and the other.)
I finnaly got to download the mod! He said the square brackets, so I pressed a key-board button and it worked! The keys he means are [ and ]. (Don’t include the and and dot. (.)) It’ll take you to the saved morph, I like to say! Box!

I run this on mcpc + for my server only one problem we wish to only have certian ranks of people be able to morph is there anything in the configs or permissions nodes created to help me with this?

Flying as vanilla bat, climbing as vanilla spiders and burning in the sun as zombie works for me without any prob. So does water-breathing (and suffocation on land) as squid…

Has anyone else encountered the problem when you are in a morph and try to use the Thaumcraft 4 scanner it starts showing everything as unknown and wont let you scan it. The problem continues after you de-morph until you quit out and reload the world/server.
I can’t open the selector with the brackets, is this a bug?
If you’re using other mods or config settings, the commands might over-ride the brackets.
How do you morph? I use the command, but it doesn’t work!
Nice, fun mod. I have a few suggestions for it when I was playing it.
1 – Have the field of view change based on the mob type. i.e., as a bat, everything should look much bigger, like a reverse “Quake POV”. Maybe bats could have an ‘echo-location’ layer (like blindness) to off-set early game flight.
2 – As an unfriendly mob, other unfriendly mobs should ignore you unless attacked (like a super-strong invisibility effect). If you’re a villager, zombies should target you more. If you’re a zombie, villagers should run away from you and iron golems attack you.
3 – As an enderman, you should auto-teleport when you touch water, or it rains. As a book, you should take damage when it rains, too).
p.s., I really want to pick up blocks as an enderman. 🙂 (basically, mob abilities, like shooting ghastballs, etc.)

I would love for creeper morph to have the ability “Combustible” (attack to set the fuse like a creeper, then blow up)
If I am morphed as a pigman, and get attacked in the nether, will other pigmen attack my assailant?
As a chicken can I poop eggs?
As a wolf, can I auto-follow/auto-assist a player?
Can I be ridden in horse morph?
If you’ve already gone over these, disregard them. I love the mod in all it’s changeling delightfulness.

I have a sugestion: add efects in the attacks ( exemple: you is a cave spider, you attack and the enemy is poisoned) and add imunite for a efect ( exemple: with a wither skeleton, you dont die by wither efect)

Hello! Great mod! But I have a problem… I transform into a bat and I cant fly… I double tap the jump button but nothing happens. I can fly as a bat in creative and flying with other mobs works as well, but the bat cant fly in survival. Can you help?

i love everything about it and im not 100% sure it has permissions already and if it does please disregard this xD
but i would like to have the permissions so that only certain ranks on the server would be able to morph like mages or werewolf’s or something along those lines
and if you wanna take it to the next step then even more permissions for specific mobs only so like i mentioned above werewolfs would be able to turn ONLY into wolves kinda thing
With the bat I can only fly for a second before the effect ends. Is this intended to be like this or is it just a bug?
Definitely not intentional, not doing it for me, at least not on the most recent version. If you’re playing on a server, maybe they have some sort of anti-fly enabled?
Before I start, I would just say that I absolutely love this mod so far and have found it to be very fun as well as quite useful. (Being able to fit into one-block spaces is extremely handy for my friends who like to build complex machines using IC2 and forestry and so forth, while it has also been useful for exploring and sneaking into other players’ houses! )
I’m finding some minor things with your Morph mod that could possibly be fixed to make it a little more compatible with other mods that have neglected to include your API.
I have found that your mod is able to determine even mod spider models to be able to climb: it has not failed once so far. The second any player sees a non-vanilla spider climbing, the morphs have updated to reflect this trait.
What would be nice is if your mod could determine just from a player seeing a mob flying that it can fly. So far, not a single flying mob besides those in vanilla has been identified by morph to be able to fly. This means it has failed to see that modded mobs such as butterflies or flying horses are able to fly.
Another suggestion would be if the mod would record a list of all mobs the players have come across in the game and have a place to manually include traits for them.
So if mutant mobs support was also added for this mod it would be pretty sweet, along with the beta of divine rpg, but mutant mobs is easier.
Really awesome mod! Hope it will be updated for 1.7 at some point oh and could you like make it so you can choose if you get the ability right away or get it the hard way

FYI, this issue was hotfixed yesterday afternoon, if you download the mod again and install it this shouldn’t happen anymore.
I fixed it, i just had to go into the nbt data and change my player position and blacklist squids
This mod has made my minecraft. I don’t want to update to 1.7 pretty much solely because I’d loose the ability to use this. Not for bat flying. Not for easy nether trips.
The ability to block the API from opening has let me lock myself into playing a zombie. Sure, villagers don’t run from me, golems don’t attack me (hey, would it be possible to make golems attack hostiles without making them attack non-hostiles, or, say, wolves attack sheep?), and I can’t turn the testificates into zombies. But outside of villages, it’s perfect.
And let me say, it etches some new habits into playing minecraft: always wear a helmet, always carry a bucket of water in the hotbar, and stick to the shade.
Also, chicken is best redstoner.

Having an issue with VoxelMap… whenever you transform into any morph, the GUI for morph goes insane — it flashes on and off the screen very quickly until you morph back to your player. The same thing happens with the favorite menu. This does not happen when voxelmap is not installed. Not sure whose side of the fence this is on, or if it’s a known issue. No error log to report, not so much as a blip in console.

Hey is it possible you could look at possible abilities for mobs in animal bikes? I don’t know how the thing (entity.so-on) goes for and I don’t want to mess anything up in the github. This would be nice. Also, recently I discovered that when walking as a dragon bike, your legs don’t move.
Oh, I studied the abilities a bit more and added the animalbikes abilities (and penguin from TF) in the github. I’m pretty sure they’re right, so please check them out 😀
You should think about adding a feature where you can turn off morphing after morphing into a certain mob. I want to do a Youtube series in the LotR mod where i am morphed as a hobbit and play along with some friends but everytime I or they kill something they morph into. What im asking is for a feature that makes your current “morph” permanent.
There already is you should check your config for this:

Yea you can disable instamorph and once you and ur friends are hobbits, quit and you can go to the config and disable opening the morph GUI so u will b stuck that way.

I have a bug:
After i morph into any mob, whenever I open the morph “menu” it keeps flickering (become transparent then normal and goes on). Not game breaking, but is irritating.
This is a rendering bug, that I believe to be rooted incompatibilities with MPS. But I could be wrong, I have 120 mods, it really could be any of them.

Hey is this a bug or a glitch or a problem with the mod the mob is from? When u morph or obtain the morph of something that can fly (ex Pegasus or wyvern from mo creatures) ur permanently in the flying animation, even when u land. Is this a bug?

Hey iChun, I had an idea for the bats and possibly other mobs. You know in real life when you would scare a bunch of bats, they would all come flying out in almost a follow the leader kind of way. I thought it would be cool if you would implement it into the morph mod, maybe have some that go ahead so you can be disguised into the bats. Just a thought

Only when I have morphed in like a bat, ghast I am not able to fly. I get in the air and bounce down again.
Checked the config and I have the fly option set to 0 (no nether needed).
Am I missing something ?

well that might be a bug as this mod is stil BETA, so either wait for another version (still in beta) or wait until the whole thing is OUT of beta when it is a more stable version

Having exactly the same issue with not being able to fly. Tried both the 0.4 and 0.5 versions with the same results. Not sure if it some other mod causing a conflict and preventing flight. If I find a solution I will post and would appreciate anyone else who has the flight problem that comes up with a solution/workaround.

First, here’s my question: By any chance, was this mod based off of the book series “Animorphs”? because it looks awfully similar to how they morph and such (aside from the killing of the animal, I hope you change that, it would be more “accurate”). If you don’t know what the series is, i highly suggest reading it, its a really good series. Here’s a link to the first eBook of it: Richard’s Animorphs Forum – E-Books | The Invasion (Book 1).
Now, here’s my suggestions: You should make some way to be trapped in morph by staying in morph for over a certain amount of time, (AHEMreferencetothebooks) or some other way, and the only way to get back is to build something very expensive that changes you back, ill let you think of the recipe so its not to op, but it still should be very expensive. Also, on hardcore mode there’s no way to change back, your morph GUI is disabled so you cant change into ANYTHING else, you stay your shape when you die, and you still can’t change back till you get the item. Another idea is that, if someone were to kill you, only you and someone else in the same morph can pick up your items. the people not in morph see that you dropped the normal items, like if you were a sheep, you would drop 1(lousy) wool and they could pick the wool up, but nothing else. Also, your health would change according to you morph, like say, if you were a chicken you would only have 4 health points and if you were, say an enderman you would have 40 health points. another little couple of details are, you can’t morph while in morph, you have to go back to normal(setting to turn that off), you can’t “acquire” while in morph, you can eat grass as pigs/cows/sheep/horses/ etc, when you point at a block with a free space under it and and press (insert key here) as a bat you will stick to the underside of that block. and maybe, you do the melee damage of the morph you are. Oh and one more other thing, can you possibly make it so that mods like the damage indicators mod, sees you as the mob you are, not as your actual username. this would add to the fun chaos and confusion of multiplayer. I don’t know if that’s possible, but you’ve made it this far into the what-the-heck-i-didn’t-think-this-mod-was-possible-omg-its-so-awesome range of modding, so i believe you can do it.

Two suggestions
1. A morph artifact
The morphs can only be triggered by using said artifact. If the artifact is lost the player is stuck in that morph and can’t change back unless they find their artifact or find a new one.
2. Custom appearance
Make it so that you can give your morphs custom textures and or name a morph something other than the morph itself.

If any of you are having flight issues with Morph, check to see if you have the mod Energy Manipulation loaded. If so, go in and turn the flying ring to false. Fixed the Morph not being able to fly issue for me.
what is the key of the wechsel of the mob
My morph won’t work for some reason, I’m using the Direwolf20 1.6.4 pack on FTB and when I kill a mob it shows the animation of me collecting the morph, but the only morph that shows up in the window is the main player one.

You should make a “Mimicking Zombie” mod.
A special rare zombie spawn and when it sees you, it will copy your every move until you kill it. You do some parkour and It follows you perfectly. You set up traps it builds them somewhere else close to you (30 to 40) blocks away…

first, let me say i love this mod. i’ve changed from minecraft on xbox to the pc so i can use it. great work.now, having said that, i need a little help. i have set hostile ability mode to 1 and hostile ability distance check to everywhere from 0 – 50 and no matter what i change the distance check to, all mobs on the screen are drawn to me like a moth to a flame. what have i done wrong?

Maybe a night vision effect for bats (which is actually inacurte because bats are blind but ya know that is minecraft logic) that would be kinda cool. And maybe a horde trait for wolf like someone already said but also pigmen.

I found 2 glitches. 1: No matter what hostility setting I am on Spiders will attack me even if I am a spider or any hostile mob. 2: When I am a sunburn ability mob at night and it becomes day I will not burn but upon my next morph into say, a sheep, I will burn to death.
Spiders and slimes still use the old API and will ignore hostile mode. I have no idea about the second one XD
I just wanted to say that this mod is very cool. Thank you for building it, and continuing to update it.
I am not sure what all you have planned for in terms of abilities, but I would like to suggest a few for you to consider.
1. A grass eating ability might be interesting to have for passive mobs like sheep and cows. You could use it to fill up one hunger. Though this isn’t my idea originally. I got it while playing a different mod that let you add the DNA of mobs to the player. The sheep DNA allowed you to eat grass.
2. Inheriting the jumping/health/speed of the horse you kill.
3.One block high mobs being able to fit into one block spaces.
4. As a Zombie your attack strength varies depending on how much health you have. When your health gets lower, your attacks become stronger.
5. Have clear sight underwater with the squid.
6. As a Skeleton, you can cause the special disk drops by killing creepers with an arrow.
Anyways, just some ideas I was thinking of while playing. Great job on the mod.
You should make a spacial wood, cobblestone, iron, and diamond sword for killing the mobs to turn into them.
Please make abilities for mobs from mods!

This is a great mod. My only tragedy is that I had to get minecraft again because of a program crash, of which had nothing to do with your mod, and now I lost my forge 1.6.4. Is it possible to update this to 1.7? That would be greatly appreciated.

You can reinstall forge for 1.6.4, in fact you can have both at once and switch between profiles, that’s what I do.

Is anyone else having problem not morphing into a mob.. I can get the morph, and turn back to my self.. but then not turn into the mob again?
I have a suggestion. While morphing and you get hit, you hear the sound of the thing you are changing into. It should be that while morphing and you get hit, you hear both sounds so it sounds like both morphing mouths make a noise.
I love how no one gets how to activate the hostile ability ^^ It’s in the configuration (.cfg) file for the mod. here you go:
1. Launch minecraft with the mod mounted at least once
2.Open your .minecraft folder and search for “cfg”
3. You should find a “morph.cfg” open it with any text editor, if it looks wierd, try another one
4. There you go, edit your “morph” settings as you want it

If you mean the spider jockey, then that’s not a bug in the mod, its just that the skeleton and the spider are two individual (Separate) mobs. If you mean something else, then your lost my friend.
i suggest having to kill more normal mobs to morph into them, because its a bit op to kill a bat for flying. example: kill x sheep gives you morph ability for sheep. or an energy level that slowly drains while morphed. maybe put both in config items?
The bat morph can’t fly until you reach nether, so not totally op
Hey, you should allow the player abilities (such as when a bat being able to fly) to other mobs from other mods. For instance if i were to kill a butterfly from ore spawn i would then be able to fly once morphed

You can do both of these. Just enable hostile mode in the config file for the second one. Just know that spiders and slimes and hostile mobs from mods still attack.
I read in the forums there is a conflict with the mod Extra Utilities with the item Spike. That Morph would cause a crash when a monster is killed with a spike. They said Ichun is aware of it. I don’t see this bug listed here. Can you confirm this is happening because I have this issue right now.

Is there a way to cycle through favorites/use for favorites? If not, can it be a possibility to add this feature in the near future? I have a lot of mobs from different mods, so I would prefer not having to scroll through a giant menu in order to find what I want WITHOUT having to delete mobs, this just morphs me back into them.
Is there anyway to become a Wither? I have bosses enabled and can become the Ender Dragon but not the wither!!! Also I have Mo Creatures and for some reason cannot morph into the human form of the werewolf!!! Any ideas?

Here is a random idea I had. How about for balance mobs that don’t have hands (bat, bird, etc) can’t hold or use items? Sure as a bat you can fly… but no tools for you! No building, either.
And only human-shaped mobs can have armor. That leaves zombie and skeleton, really, so it severely the powers you get from anything else.
Also, it makes sense. A bat can’t hold a pickax, right?
I suppose you could let tentacled mobs (squid and ghast) use tools – but the ghast has a really slow speed while flying, right? So that balances it too. Also ghasts are pretty hard to kill, at least at first.
Anywho, there’s my idea. Take it or leave it.

Also… you can still build in (dark) 1-black spaces as baby zombie.
Endermen you could balance by giving them blindness… except for anything that’s looking at them!
The Enderman blindness idea is good, although maybe I think it would be a little hard to code and would render Enderman teleportation a little awkward to use (when it’s implemented).
However, what about a feature where, while morphed into an Enderman, and a player looks at you, you go into that shaky-angry mode and your crosshair is “snapped” to that player (essentially forcing you to cease gameplay until they’ve been dealt with or move out of range).
Is there a way to disable automatic morphs?

Hey iChun, I turned the Hostile Mobs option on in the config. It works for vanilla mobs, but other mobs from mods i.e Mo Creatures, Lycanites mobs etc still attack me even when im morphed as a hostile mob. Could you please explain to me why this is, thanks.

put on boss morphs in the config file. I don’t recommend doing that because the end portal doesn’t spawn so the only way to go back to the overworld is by killing yourself

Couple of issues:
1. Bird mobs, i.e. chickens and Twilight Forest ravens and birds, constantly flap their wings when morphed into even when they’re standing still or walking – this is annoying and makes it difficult to disguise yourself as those mobs.
2. Ghasts don’t get the flight ability. Bit annoying.
Looking forward to:
Enderman teleportation ability (and Ghast fireball ability etc) and the ability to pick up blocks as an Enderman does. (Or, if that’s too difficult, the block you’re holding showing up as though the Endie is holding it in his hands.)
I’m having a problem morphing into the Boss Mobs. Any suggestions? Other than that, this is a great mod! When I was younger I loved the Animorph series, and this mod is exactly like those books:) I can’t wait for the updates

This mod is great and everything work fine in single-player but when I play my multiplayer server and kill a mob, it just dies without me capturing its soul. When I press “[” it just shows me a blank square.
The mod must be installed server side as well, and everyone on the server has to have it. In other words, it must be a mod server

I’m having a bit of trouble. When I try to change back into a peaceful mob after switching to another mob, I can’t change back!

It’s the coding of the hostile mobs. In morph, ichun only coded the vanilla mobs to ignore you while hostile mode is on, but he didn’t code mobs from other mods.
I have a problem with my friends when we play on my server that I made. whenever (most of the time) when we are in the same chunk, or general area, someone crashes. If it’s me that morphs, my friend crashes, and vice versa. And it’s been getting so bad, we’re on the verge of removing it from my server, even though we hate to do it. Any help?
If you kill a player while they are morphed into, say, a bat, would you get them or the bat?

I’m guessing it’s just modding for 1.7 is kinda hard. Not really sure, as modding isn’t my forte, but it’s probably just a case of time. For now, just use it in 1.6.4 and have as much fun as you can with it

You should add a perk that the mob you turn into won’t think it’s you. Sort of a disguise thing.
Check the config file, look for the hostile option. It’s already there

I personally think they should make it an enchantment, so when you have the morph enchantment on your sword, it would let you transform instead of when you kill something you will always turn into it.
No, that would be too much work. You can turn off instamorph in the config file, but I think with getting an enchantment it would take too long, plus you never know what enchantment you’re getting. It’s funner to have almost instant access to morphing, the entire point of the mod is to be able to shapeshift 🙂
I morph into a bat while in MC 1.6.4, and i can’t fly at all, even in the nether. Neither with a blaze nor a bat can i fly with… PLEASE Plz plz plz help!!!
It’s one of two things:
1. You’re not double-tapping space. Flight works like it does in creative, it’s not just there, you have to activate it by double-tapping space (or whatever your jump button is).
2. Early flight config is disabled. Kill the Enderdragon and try flying once you get back to the Overworld. If it doesn’t work then, it’s issue 1.

So, I downloaded the mod. Works absolutely perfectly, amazingly awesome. Small bug when I’m climbing as a cave spider and I hit the ceiling and it looks like I’m suffocating, but not that big a deal and not why I’m here. I tried adding a texture pack to see what Morph would be like with it and it didn’t work for some reason? Anyone know why that is?

I Turned on the Hostile feature in the config, and I just wanted to inform you that blazes, ghasts, endermen, magma cubes, and zombie pigmen still attack you when you are a hostile mob (I haven’t tried the wither or ender dragon yet). Also, I used this with your gravity gun mod (yes I used util), optifine, zans minimap, and damage indicators, and i noticed that parts of entities dissapear (i.e. ghasts’ tentecles dissapear, only the tops of chests are visible, parts of the gravity gun are missing, etc.). Please fix this in a later version of the mod.

This mod has serious balance and realism issues. I think you could solve most of them by adding another ability: HUMANOID.
HUMANOID (zombie, skeleton, villager, etc.): you can wear armor and use items as normal.
NOT-HUMANOID (cow, squid, bat, most others): Your body is the wrong shape for armor. You receive no benefit from having any sort of armor equipped. You have no hands. You cannot use (right or left click) any item in your toolbar.
Then it would be no fun to disguise as peaceful mobs

How do you get the circular morph GUI like Dire has on his videos?
It’s probably the favorites bar. Press ~ on any morph you want to favorite, then exit out if the normal morph GUI and hold ~ and that will have all ur favorites morphs on it. Scroll around your mouse to select.

Did you go in the config and enable morphing in to boss mobs? if you didn’t go to your .minecraft folder and go into config. morphs there and blah blah blah :3. did this help ._.
I was using the Girlfriend Mod with this, I killed a girlfriend, the mod works fine. I name a villager spawn egg ‘Girlfriend’, spawn it and kill it, and the morph mod thinks it’s a Girlfriend O.o

So, I’m having a slight issue. I never thought that the bat form was OP so I tried to fix it so I always had the flight ability.
I go into the config,

but when I restart the game, nothing’s changed.
I still have to wait until I reach the nether.
I am using the direwolf20 modpack version 1.0.16 but this was also happening to me in the previous versions as well. Also there might be conflicting configuration files in that modpack but I think that might be problem with how the modpack was made.

Can you add abilities for the chicken and the bat? The chicken should double jump, just like in SSZ, and the bat should be able to hang under ceilings. Or atleast the hang position when flying at ceilings.

Could you possibly make it so if there’s a mob with a sitting/laying position or animation (ex tamed wolf from minecraft and kitty from mo creatures and ocelot from minecraft, etc.) and you were morphed as that mob you could hit a key like u or h or whatever key and you will do that sitting/laying animation? Like hit a key and you could sit? This would be really awesome, and I would appreciate it if you took it into consideration, but just a suggestion. Thanks.

I absolutely love this mod, its one of my all-time favorites, but for some reason the favorites key ( ~ ) doesn’t work for me. I’ve tried all kinds of stuff, and there’s no option to change it in the options menu ingame. I’m using Mac OSX 10.6.8, if that makes a difference. If anyone knows a solution or a way to fix this in the config file, anything, please let me know. I would love to be able to open the favorites menu and select favorite morphs. Thanks!

Will there be (or is there currently) a way to remove the flight ‘ability’ completely? I have found that even the larger creatures with flight are too “convenient” my players rush to get to the nether for flight as soon as I start a new map. they aren’t even mining obsidian anymore. they are getting a bucket and placing lava source block by block to make portals now. one of the comments read that you needed to kill the enderdragon to get flight, how can I turn that on?

I have a suggestion: add a feature that makes it so when you morph to a bat (or anything that can fly maby?)you only have three inventory slots, all the others dissapear and all the items get taken on the ground, the items that go to the ground include armor, this would be one way to balance free flying in a different way then the wither thing.

That includes the HarcoreEnderExpansion Dragon. Add any other mods’ Dragons in the same fashion.
Very surprised that isn’t set by default in the configuration as it’s really a game breaker for worlds/servers without teleporting. Let admins/players opt to enable it if they wish.

Great mod Ichun. I toyed around with the 0.7.1 version (aka the latest) and while I did have issues with not seeing the morphs (or myself) I did find it quite fun after I got around that to use it while working on my base. the bat is so useful when you have flight to do work with pipes.
However.. I also been reading and Well. everyone asking of how to fly or how to get mob abilitys or hostile mode.. click the link and do some reading. it helps with whats allready been said.
But back to the point.. Ichun. with the 1.6.4 is there a way with the API to give mod mobs the abilitys they should have. I want to put Chococraft for walkin in the nether, the purple would be great there. (invulnerable to fire/lava and the chicken style floating)

why not add a selective morph function like only morphing part of your body for example wings of an ender dragon
You should add in the sub-settings feature you can choose the morphing animation for your player (can be seen in multiplayer w/out others enabling it). Like one could be the Danny Phantom thing or the player ‘liquifys’ and grows out of the ‘puddle’.

Hi, this mod is a brilliant mod. However, when I use TheYouWillDieMod, it doesn’t group entities of different levels (even if they’re the same entity, purely because it relies on the entity name).
Because of this, I’d say that support for this mod (and other mods that add boss variations of mobs) is needed.

hey dude, i was wondering about something. when ever i go to the config file and change the hostile ability for it to be that no mob sees me. it seems this doesn’t apply to spider ghasts and blazes. im not sure if this is a bug or if its whats ment to happen. like i don’t know, spiders have a radar on whats their own and who’s a fake?

in 1.7 a lot of coding changed in the default minecraft. and it takes a lot of effort to change the mod and update it with a new method of coding
Is it possible to disable smart moving while morphed? It can cause some real odd bugs such as:
-dissappearing while crawling
-getting stuck in walls while flying
-issues while swimming
-probably more I haven’t noticed, in general it does not work outside of the default player (not that I would expect it to)
Now there may be nothing you can do about it but I figured it would be good to know as far as incompatibilities go. Morph still functions as intended though from what I can tell.
On a side note I really like how you added the optional config requiring player to kill the Wither for the flight ability. This gives and actual purpose to the Wither and is wonderful when combined with the gravestones mod to give the Wither its own dungeon. Very nice for servers that include the mod, as well as the other balance config options provided. If it were not for those I sadly wouldn’t want to play a survival modpack or server with it.

I am using morph mod 0.7.1 beta and whenever I become a bat, I am not able to fly. I play with the Yogscast Complete Pack and I am not sure if it is the pack or not. I read some of the files in the mod itself and it said to report if the local file, or files, are not being used and I don’t think they are. Can you please help?

What if you added a new gamemode, eh eh? Like called PET MODE. Basically, you choose an animal you can tame like wolf or horse at the beginning and then a house is randomized for you and your owner. They can have random chats like “Be back soon , I’m going to the shops.” Certian blocks are added like for horses, hay bed… etc. Get it? It seems hard but is worth it. It will get sooooooooo many hits playing a whole game as an animal.

I cannot get this mod to work on my private server. I have killed everything i can to ensure that its more than passive mobs. When i hit the [ ] keys i get a blank box and nothing else. I searched for an answer but can’t seem to find 1 so any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time
*EDIT* i use FTB Ultimate and downloaded the server from the launcher. It is version 1.6.4 with Morph 0.7.1. I have uninstall reinstalled and restarted more times than i can count. Once again thank you for your time

How do I turn off auto-Morph?
Somewhere in the Morph config file. Look there.
hey i have done the config and all but in my modpack no matter what morph i morph into spiders and spider like monsters attack me and i have it set to mobs of same attack me but others dont but im still attacked what do i do
also you should make the comments flipped so newer ones are at top otherwise most ppl dont see the newers comments
