Wax Tablet recipe:

 

  • Ingame Minecraft modeler. Hit the T button on your keyboard or the T button in the main menu to access. New in 4.1.0, works multiplayer as well, with the Wax Tablet!
  • Workspace folder within the /mods/ folder. Saves, textures, exports, configs, etc go here.
  • Function and UI based off Techne by ZeuX and r4wk. It’s meant to provide a replacement to Techne but not as a proper replacement for third party modelers such as Blender or Maya.
  • Has the ability to open Techne files. Supports Child models and has Undo/Redo save-states.
  • Keyboard shortcuts for New Project, Open Project, Delete, Cut, Copy, Paste, Paste in Place, Save, Undo, Redo.
  • Imports models from Minecraft directly, including mod models (on best attempt). Yes that is how the EnderDragon model really looks like.
  • Exports texture map of model and updated Java code for modders.
  • Animation support! Animate your models! Code export is not yet possible however.
  • Possibly upcoming 1.8 block model compatiblity.

    Bug report (not sure if this is the right place, though):
    When I install Tabula in my development environment and try to press the T in the menu screen, I get this crash:

    Is there a way to export a “blank” texture where you can see all the parts? If not (and is possible to implement) you can take it as a funktion request.

    Is there a way to block this from importing models from a mod? I ask as I have models that I don’t want to be “stolen” and claimed as another person’s work and so on. I also wouldn’t like it if they took the models and made their own mod from them.

      Send Tabula an IMC Message at init, the class name you don’t want imported. I’ve had that feature since release.

      If you’re the mod creator you can put something that check for tabula and if tabula is installed the game doesn’t load and send an error like “tabula is installed pls uninstall it” or something like that no ?

      you have to put the texture in the file that says “textures” in the tabula folder

    I was trying to make a hat model with this for the hat mod, but when it saves as a .tbl file it doesnt show up in the hats gui, and if i manually change it to .tc2 then it is just a blank model. Can you add a feature that makes it so u can save it as a .tc2 or something that will work with hats?

        Yes, but i am trying to do it only using tabula because of the convenience and i couldnt get my model to load in techne

      Okay, now the animation is acting up. The arm goes up smoothly, but then I have a second component that makes it go back down to the original position and it just “snaps” into place. , someone?

    can i ask if you there are plan to make textures on the server, and maybe auto save the file to the server. and then load it into the game? without rebooting server?

      it isnt in tabula, you have to use a modded version from the wearmc website. its under create something new then turorials

    a Cubik to Tabula converter?

    so we can get models we made in Cubiks in to tabula some how and then in to WearMC(basically 3d skins/add or replace stuff on player model) mod?
    +cubik has obj importer
    so .Obj(blender or 3ds max)>Cubik>Tabula>WearMC maybe?

    I have noticed that some custom techne models do not import correctly into tabula. Im not sure why but I think it has to do with the way they were built in techne in some way. Who would I contact to demonstrate the issue. It seems that for some of my models that I built in techne the rotations are not imported correctly and the model rotation points arent also. This causes them to look “fallen apart” where in techne they appear correctly. Another bug I have discovered is that you cannot import a project unless you import a project from minecraft first. The Open Project button seems to not have this issue. Also When trying to import models that are already in minecraft that are part of a mod tabula seems to import their texture but not the model itself. – But overall this mod is fantastic I hope it keeps getting updated as it is a vast improvement to techne. I just wish this mod was a separate program like techne was.

    Tabula is just amazing. I have already made some amazing models. I have even worked with animating them, which is real easy and fun to do. My only hope is that you can implement exporting soon 😉

    This could uscoulde a lot of improvement such as

    Camera viewing angles- theyre inferior to technes you can only zoom in at the middle of your model.

    Texturing loading- you can see how your model looks when being textured on the spot in techne while using paint and save just to see how your mob looks while being textured while tabula does not. Tebula is good for linking child parts to parents. There’s some good things about tabula and a lot of things that aren’t compared to techne.o

    .obj Export please. There is no other export-to-Obj from a tabula/techne file other than toolbox, which costs money.
