Basic Info

Uses Minecraft Forge or later.

Uses block IDs 1100 and 1101, item IDs 13200+ by default. Can be changed in config file.


The config file can be found in the /config/ folder.

Specific parts of the mod can be disabled to free up block/item IDs if required.

Server Information

Properties files

  • Dedicated server config files come in two places. One in the world save folder, one in the /config/ folder.
  • The difference is the one in the /config/ folder are for block/item/net IDs etc while the one in the world save folder is for directly changing (mostly) gameplay mechanics.
  • The mod adds several commands which can be listed down by typing “pg” in the server console of “/pg” as an Op.
  • These include changing mod properties in-game, as well as clearing out portals.



  1. Go to your minecraft folder. (If you don’t know how to, look it up)
  2. Place the zip file in the /mods folder and run the game. (Make sure Minecraft Forge is already installed)
  3. If you want to change a setting (eg: a block id), go to /config/ and open “PortalGun.cfg” with your favourite text editor.
  1. Drop the zip in the /mods/ folder of the server root folder and start the server.
  2. If you want to change a general setting (eg: a block id), go to /config/ and open “PortalGun.cfg” with your favourite text editor.
  3. If you want to change a gameplay setting (eg: turret targetting), go to your world folder and open “PortalGun_world.cfg” with your favourite text editor.


  • This mod DOES NOT auto resolve Item ID issues, but uses Forge’s ID allocator for blocks.
  • Please do check the config file, both of them, enough comments have been added for you to understand it.
  • Server is VANILLA only.

– Moon Portals no longer pull entities if it is out of view (behind a block) and is unable to pull blocks.
– Turret AI overhaul, more focused on work done by the server to be told to the client rather than both having their own separate outcomes.
– Oracle Turrets no longer have lasers.
– Additional turret config options such as ignore owners, ignore invisible entities.
– Tweaked Turret Item.
– Turrets can now be dispensed out of dispensers if there is a non-air block below or two blocks below the dispenser face.
– Turrets not longer drop items if killed by a creative player.
– Changed bullet entity texture to look like streaks of light, more noticable than previous bullet texture.
– Allowed blocks which uses the chest render type (22) to be grabbed.
– Removed opening of Portal Spawner GUI when placed due to the item previously saving its configuration.
– Block entities which fall too far into the void will be killed.
– Block entities now respect block placement rules.

Known issues

Currently Not Applicable as See Through Portals has not been reimplemented yet.

  • If your screen turns black or freezes when there’s a portal around, disable see through portals as that is causing the issue.
  • See through portals are NOT PERFECT. This means there may be conflicts with other GUIs and such. If the issues caused by it are unbearable, turn it off or set to static image.
  • Advanced OpenGL being enabled causes flickering issues with see through portals.
  • The sky will flicker while you’re in your inventory and looking at a see through portal.

    For some reason, the Weighted storage and companion cubes (everything entity in fact), they don’t seem to be getting destroyed from the Material Emancipation Grid. Please help, I am making a map requiring the elements of those. Sincerely, DizzyZane

        There is: glass. You would need a resource pack to make it not see-thru.

          there is also: every single transparent block, incuding leaves so I prefer to edit leaves on the resource pack

            Actually, you can blacklist any blocks so that you can’t place portals on them. Find the config file inside the folder of your current world and there should be an option to blacklist blocks.

    I can\’t seem to get the server installation right. when i try to spawn a portal gun, i get an error message saying \”there is no such item with ID 13457\” in the chat. i am using TMI to spawn it, and i don\’t see the bacon gun in the TMI screen, or for that matter any gun other than default. and the default doesn\’t even spawn. can someone please give me some instruction? i am using hamachi, and i have tried creating the \”mods\” folder in the same directory as the server.

      You need install minecraft forge in the minecraft server jar idk how it works with hamachi.

    It says that the portal block entity 206 is not compatible with Railcraft. i\’ve tried editing the properties file (i think i got it right, change the id #s at the top, right?) any help would be appreciated

      That basically means it\’s broken… A NullPointerExecption means there\’s a problem with the code on one of the mods.
      Explanation, you\’re using minecraft 1.2.5, this is for 1.4.5. Update your minecraft and it\’ll be fixed.

      This is simple.
      Go to this mod.After you do,go to your downloads.
      Then when you find it,right click it,then click “extract here”
      It is now a file,so now click it,and click the .EXE thing and when it pops up,(Recommended to backup)
      Install it,and it auto-matically adds FML, 🙂

    Kay, I have a question. I am trying to set up portalcraft for my brother for christmas. I have the maps working, but I cannot craft the core for the gun, and by association, the gun. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have Forge Mod Loader and AudioMod, but I’m not concerned if I get the sounds or not. Please help, preferably before christmas.

      Yeah, they changed the recipe. You now need a Nether Star surounded by ender dust to make a Miniature Black Hole instead of just a normal ender pearl.

    When I try to start Minecraft, it tells me Minecraft has crashed becasue it failed to start game. It goes on telling me a full error report has been sent to a folder with all my other Minecraft information. I’m not the smartest computer whiz, and I can’t begin to comprehend the report. Do you know why Minecraft is doing this, or is this a bigger problem that I need to contact Mojang for?

    i want to make it so you cannot place a portal on obsidian, black wool, and bedrock. How would i go about doing this? i cant seem to figure it out. Also i need this for my server. If i get help i might release the ip to whoever helps me.

      Mr. Epic, there should be a config file for the portal gun somewhere in your server files.Email me the server files and I can find it for you and disable portals on Obbsidian, wool, etc. Email me at [email protected]
